When I first started op-shopping back in the 1980s I was drawn to sparkly clothing. Not much has changed.

Yesterday I found this in a Salvos. It was $7.50. It’s home-made. It sparkles. And, most importantly, it fit perfectly.

It’s even got weights at the bottom of the jacket so it sits properly. I only noticed it when I was taking these photos. I’ve never come across this before.

The dress below was also a relatively recent purchase. I’d been out with my teenage son and we’d just had lunch. He must have been in a good mood because when I said let’s go look in the nearby op-shop he agreed.

I saw this and couldn’t resist trying it on. It wasn’t until I tried it on that I found that a seam had come mostly undone, but I could tell that it fit.

I managed to get a few dollars knocked off, so $14 became $9 – this was also from the Salvos. I fixed it with my sewing machine and wore it at an event not long afterwards. Oh, and this one is also home-made. These are some of my favourite op-shop outfits.
